About Your Tutor

Kelly Houle is an academic tutor and visual artist whose work—whether in a math session or a painting studio—centers on the same conviction: a well-rounded education forms the mind and the heart. She believes learning is not merely the accumulation of skills, but the cultivation of attention, reasoning, and meaning.

As a private tutor, Kelly teaches across secondary mathematics (including Art of Problem Solving from Pre-Algebra through Calculus) and the sciences, including physical science, chemistry, and physics. Her instruction is grounded in the Socratic method: guided questions that reveal understanding, strengthen logic, and help students learn to think independently rather than rely on memorized steps.

As an artist and writer, Kelly’s practice is devoted to close observation and wonder—the discipline of noticing what is real, subtle, and beautiful, especially in the natural world. Her artistic work informs her teaching, and her teaching informs her art: both rely on careful attention, clear expression, and the courage to stay with a problem long enough for insight to arrive.

Kelly works especially well with homeschooling and classical-education families who value depth over shortcuts and who want students to develop intellectual confidence across mathematics, science, language, and the arts as integrated ways of understanding the world.
